Austin Creek Adventure
One Night Beginners Backpacking Experience
A Mindfulness Retreat
9:30 am, Sat, Oct. 5th - 6:30 pm, Sun, Oct. 6th
Have you wondered what it's like to backpack and camp
for a night out in the open? Then this trip is for you.
With thousands of acres of woods and streams, this is an opportunity to rejuvenate, refresh, and be inspired. While you'll bring the provisions you need, I'll provide the camp site and be your guide.
Experience:
* greater aliveness as you immerse yourself in these gorgeous surroundings.
* the confidence of carrying all you'll need in your backpack.
* sleeping under the stars while feeling warm and cozy.
* the tranquility natural to an overnight stay in nature.
* the natural bubbling up of JOY!
In addition to periods of heightened listening, the morning yoga, song, and meditation session will support us being deeply present to our surroundings.
Schedule
We meet Saturday at 9:30 am in the Armstrong Redwoods parking lot.
We'll stroll under the canopy of those magnificent trees to the amphitheater. There, we'll have the opportunity to let our inner children come out and play. Bring a poem, a song, or a dance.
We'll drive up to the Gilliam Creek trail head, review what you've packed and maybe shed a little weight. We'll sit for a brief circle wherein we'll have an opportunity to check - in and share what is alive in us.
Our first hour we'll hike in silence. This is an opportunity to drop into stillness and open to the natural beauty.
We'll break at Gilliam Creek camp site for a swim and lunch.
We'll continue to Mannings Flat camp, another 2 miles in. This glorious place has a huge field, great for games (bring your frisbee), and 2 gorgeous swimming holes.
Mini Ropes Course
Community Building
Saturday afternoon you'll experience the freedom and fun of ascending and repelling out of a tree, with the guidance of a skilled tree climber and the knowledge that you are safely tied into a harness.
Swimming Holes
You'll then be ready to enjoy one of Austin Creek's gorgeous
swimming lagoons, for some cool refreshment.
Community Circle
In the evening, we'll share stories, and more. I invite you to bring a small, lightweight musical instrument to participate in a no-experience necessary music circle!
Sunday
We begin our day with three rounds of yoga, song, and meditation.
After breakfast, you'll have the opportunity to ascend yet another tree: one with a greater degree of challenge, safely tied into a harness.
Creativity
Following lunch, we'll express what is alive in us through the creation of rock cairns along the river, serenaded by the creek and the local wildlife.
Swimming
Next, you'll visit another lovely swimming hole. You may wish to bring a journal as the quietude can be very inspiring.
Beauty
Our hike back will gift us with great views of the sunset. After which, we'll complete our journey by the light of the quarter moon.
Preregistration is $150. by Sept. 28th. $175. thereafter.

Austin Creek State Park
The Rae Lakes Loop Trek is a vigorous hike and is recommended for fit travelers with basic skills. We will be active for 5 - 7 hours most days and hike about 8 miles per day, although we will stay at one of the lakes for a day of rest in between.
We will be hiking on mountainous, exposed terrain with steep ascents/descents and uneven trails with an elevation change of up to 2000 ft/day. We will reach just shy of 12,000 feet altitude.

A Mindfulness Retreat
Friday 8am, August 2nd - Monday, 8pm, August 5th
$150. by July 23rd. $170. after.
6 spaces available. 4 participant minimum.
The last remaining undeveloped section of the California Coast, this trail gives us lots of ocean views while hiking in the woods. At times it's so wild that it seems more of a jungle than a forest.
We head out to this lightly trafficked gem during the warmest time of year, making the combination of the ocean breeze and the warm days a great combo. We may even take a dip in a creek or the ocean.
For more information on The Lost Coast, go to:
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/lost-coast-trail-southern-loop
On our 4 day trek we'll trek along the inland route, making our way up to a gorgeous inlet, where we'll stay the night. We lovingly call this camp ground "The Shire." We'll make our way down the coastal trail, staying at two distinctly different beautiful campgrounds.
We'll start our days with yoga for backpackers, song to open our voices and hearts, and meditation to drop us into deep listening that we may attune to ourselves and our surroundings.
Each day will have in depth sharing, each evening, rhythm, song, and storytelling.
Rejuvenate, be inspired, and open to your ever present intuition in this exquisite and wild wilderness.

"I recently had the opportunity to join Sahar on one of his wilderness immersion trips in the Kings Canyon National Park. Sahar's presence allowed for a beautiful container To deeply experience the exquisite and profound energy of the sierra Nevada mountains. Sahar's ability to connect deeply with the present moment and exemplify honest expression and deep listening is absolutely refreshing to experience. Sahar Is one of the most authentic human beings I have come to know and spending time with him in nature was a gift for the heart and soul. I would highly recommend one of his wilderness immersion trips to anyone looking For deeper connection within themselves. This retreat was exactly the medicine I needed. Thank you Sahar!" - Jens Jarvie
I have 22 years experience guiding groups into nature for enjoyment, hiking, and to immerse into the wild. I hope you're inspired to join me.
