How I Teach
Ergonomic Technique
Sahar has developed a unique style of play that minimizes effort, allowing students to learn quickly, play faster, and play for longer periods. His approach focuses on the entire person. He has designed an ergonomic approach for students prone to wrist pain and back pain. Some students have actually reported a decrease in physical pain and an increase in flexibility while playing.
Rhythmic Medicine
Sahar teaches rhythmic technique as a means to feel and be inspired by the groove or soul of each rhythm. This leads students to developing a virtual pharmacopoeia of rhythms. Want to feel a certain way, there's a rhythm for that!
Composition
A student playing a rhythm they have learned from a teacher has it's juju. But, nothing is as satisfying as composing one's own rhythmic pattern. Sahar teaches four basic rules of composition in support of his students composing their own rhythms. Freeing them up from the dependency on a teacher, they naturally align with their innate life rhythms. They let go of codependencies, while listening more acutely to their inner "yes", "no", and to their intuition.

Gabi." "I had a wonderful time at drumming class today and I know the kids did too. The teacher in me is so proud of Oak Grove. The mom in me feels really happy that my little guy got to participate. Thank you for all the work towards making it happen." Adult Classes "I've been drumming with Sahar for several months now and it's been an exhilarating experience. I leave class feeling filled up and happy. He creates a wonderful sense of community and fun. He is a phenomenal teacher - in a very short time he took us to new levels of drumming beyond anything I could have expected. I never had an interest in drumming before, but Sahar can teach anything and make it exciting. Highly recommended! A class with Sahar is a gift for yourself!" Marsha P. "Sahar will not only teach you rhythms on hand percussion instruments, he will help you attune to your personal inner rhythm. He helps his students attune deeply within their own human experience to find, and express, the medicine in music. Sahar will help you dive into the soul of drumming. I highly recommend both his private and group lessons". Ronit A. |
