Medium-sized djembe drum
Djembe Drums are a traditional African musical instrument, and this entire instrument is handmade. The drum surface is goat skin, and the base is made of sturdy carved wood encircled with plain or braided rope. Some have designs etched into the base as well as fabric trim along the top. In West Africa, nearly all ceremonies are accompanied by the timeless and distinctive melody of drums. Each drum is unique. Size is approx. 16-18" tall, and 10" diameter. Made in Senegal. Full-sized djembe drum
These larger African djembe drums have a deep, rich, and loud bass tone. The wood used for Djembe drums varies depending on the country where it is made. Drums from Senegal are typically made with Demba or Teak wood, and are relatively heavy. Drums from Ghana are normally made from Tweneboa (African Cedar) wood, and are very light. Drum heads are made from goat skin. Each drum is unique and the designs on the base of the drum vary. Size is approx. 23-25" tall with 11"-13" head. Cost is $220 and up depending on the drum.
